Magnetic Raman optical activity and Raman electron paramagnetic resonance

چکیده
All molecules in a magnetic field parallel to the incident light beam show a small difference in the intensity of Raman scattering at 900 in right and left circularly polarized incident light. The most interesting effects occur in vibrational resonance Raman scattering from odd—electron transition metal halides, and in pure electronic resonance Raman scattering from both odd— and even—electron molecules. These effects originate in Raman transitions between components of Zeeman—split degenerate levels, and provide information about the magnetic structure of the ground and low— lying excited levels (in particular the sign of the g—value and the ordering of magnetic sub—states).

Optical detection of transition metal ion electron paramagnetic resonance by coherent Raman spectroscopy
Coherent Raman scattering in combination with optical heterodyne detection provides an attractive new technique for the measurement of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). The technique is applicable to both electronic ground and excited states. In contrast to conventional ODMR techniques, it monitors the precessing magnetisation and produces phase-sensitive spectra. We have demonstrated the ...
متن کاملCoherent Raman detected electron spin resonance spectroscopy of metalloproteins: linking electron spin resonance and magnetic circular dichroism.
The simultaneous excitation of paramagnetic molecules with optical (laser) and microwave radiation in the presence of a magnetic field can cause an amplitude, or phase, modulation of the transmitted light at the microwave frequency. The detection of this modulation indicates the presence of coupled optical and ESR transitions. The phenomenon can be viewed as a coherent Raman effect or, in most ...
متن کاملMagnetic and optical anisotropy of Clostridium pasteurianum rubredoxin from optically detected electron paramagnetic resonance
The high-spin Fe~III!-center of oxidized rubredoxin from Clostridium pasteurianum shows a complicated, temperature-dependent EPR spectrum. We combine conventional EPR spectroscopy with optically detected EPR ~ODEPR! to elucidate the electronic structure of this protein metal center. The ODEPR experiment, which can be considered as coherent Raman scattering or modulated magnetic circular dichroi...

Electron spin resonance (ESR), constant photocurrent method (CPM), photothermal de ̄ection spectroscopy (PDS), Raman and IR spectroscopy have been used to measure microcrystalline silicon ®lms. Besides standard defects with a g-value of 2.0055, new defects with a g-value 2.0030 have been created during annealing this material. Proportionality between the subgap optical absorption and ESR spin de...
